Tax Day Was Fun

For me, anyway!

I got to get out and have a session at the CSU campus!

I’ve spent most of the day processing the photos because I was SO excited to do so, so I’m keeping this sneak peak short in prose and long in photos!

Before the actual session, L. was excited about the prospect of having her picture taken. That changed when it actually came time for the session. :)

“I want to go PLAY!”
I Don't WANT My Picture Taken!

As it is for so many kids, she just needed to warm up. After a while she let me take her picture, but wouldn’t let me see her face.

She Won't Take My Picture If She Can't See My Face

What's This Thing? I'd Rather Look At It Than At Her

Getting “a little warmer” (warming up to me, I mean), she let me see her face, but didn’t look directly at me.

Maybe She's Not So Bad... Black and White Square Crop

Maybe I'll Even Smile, But Not At The Camera

After a while it started to cool down, so we had L. put on her adorable fur-lined hood coat. It was actually about 74 degrees, but she was happy to put it on for us.

I Know It's Warm, But I Love This Jacket

This Is Actually FUN!!

I hope we didn’t cause cause today’s snow! ;)

L. is into fairies, so I finally got to call on my “trick” (my kids don’t need it, so I was excited to try it out): I told her there’s a fairy that lives in my camera.

She looked for it, too… and saw it! Not having ever seen it myself (I’m always on the wrong side of the lens), I asked her lots of questions about it.

Then I asked newly-named Bell (after Tinker Bell, of course) if she’d like to see L. looking in the camera. I couldn’t hear Bell, either, but L. could.

Fortunately for me, L. told me that Bell did want to see her looking into the camera! So she got up nice and close for Bell to see her beautiful eyes.

Fairy Kiss

If you look closely, you can see that Bell has given her a kiss on the cheek. :D

As we were leaving, we saw some geese down by the lagoon, and L. wanted to see them up close. I asked her to stop for a moment so I could get a shot of her with the geese in the background, and she gladly obliged!

Please Take My Picture With That Goose In The Background

I did get more photos of her looking right at me, but I enjoy the more “realistic” photos as well.

A funny thing happened as we were leaving…

We were about to go over a bridge and decided to stop and take some photos there. Not a minute passed before Mom noticed that L.’s name was written there, right above her head! Of course we had to include the name in the photos now. I just haven’t included them in the sneak peak because I don’t share kids’ names here.

In a few weeks I get to have a session with one of L.’s siblings. I’m excited to experiment with some other locations on campus for her brother, and am thinking about Old Town for her big sisters’ session.

I’m sure you’ll see some photos of caterpillars before then. :P

Use the form on the contact page to schedule your session or to get more information.

Gorgeous photos. I love the 3rd one of L. pouting/angry. It’s such a real picture of what a child’s emotions look like.
I could easily see some of these in Mothering Magazine.
