Playing Catch-Up: Maternity Portraits
As I’ve said before, probably a few times, I got really behind on posting.
In order to get caught up without it seeming so daunting to me, I’m going to do something I didn’t want to do: I’m going to post several posts in one. And I’m going to write very little instead of going in-depth about the sessions as I would have liked.
You may remember that I wanted to get some maternity portraits up at the Birth Art Show put on by Colleen Holland and The Family Journey, in conjunction with BOLD.
It took me up until the day before the art show started to get it done! I had to print a lot smaller than I wanted, and had to use a local print shop instead of my professional lab, as I’d wanted.
However, I got to meet some wonderful women and create some beautiful portraits.
First to be photographed was Angie. She already knew that she was having a boy and I had asked her to bring anything that she might like to have photographed, including an ultrasound picture if she had one.
We had lots of fun during our session, despite the fact that we had to slap off mosquitos every other second. LOL
Angie and her husband are *big* into dogs and big into books, so Angie brought along a wonderful little book that she plans on reading over and over to her little one.
About a week later I met with Angela. We went to my friend Gail’s property, which is surrounded by farm land and equipment. The mosquitos greeted us there, and were sure to get in a few pictures as well.
It was so much fun working with these women, feeling like a cheesy model photographer telling these women how beautiful they were, and being completely and totally honest!
My last session was with Lori, and we met up at a location I’ve been wanting to work at for a year!
Lori’s father is a photographer and Lori still has PCS (Photographer’s Child Syndrome); I hope I don’t give my children this complex
though it’s very likely I will. LOL
Aren’t they all so beautiful? Pregnancy is just beautiful and brings it out in a woman, if she allows it.

A little update: I’ll be creating portraits for all of these babies, once they emerge from the womb. Angie’s little one, E., was born a couple of weeks ago and you’ll see his portraits soon. I’m still waiting to hear from Angela and Lori, with my camera and cocoon at the ready.
