C. was born gently at home in Fort Collins. Her mom and dad are new to this baby thing, and are having a wonderful time learning how to care and nurture for her.

C.’s dad is already a pro at wrapping her in her swaddling blanket and calming her for photographers.

Mama has her own secrets for calming their little girl.

I was grateful that this mama was persistent!

Andi contacted me several times through my contact form here on the blog, but my replies disappeared into the ether each time. It was because of that that I made the change on my form that says, “please add my address to your whitelist/address book” so that they don’t end up in your spam folder.

She did exactly that, and gave me her phone number on the next form (maybe the 4th?). That’s persistence!!!

I had a great time photographing her family, learning about their likes and their history (Andi and Nick are high school sweethearts who were born one day apart in the same hospital room!), and watching Andi and Nick be gentle, thoughtful and creative with T. and L. .

The love that this family has for each other and for spending time together is evident upon meeting them.

And they have the cutest kids, with the most amazing eyes (T. and L. get that from their mama, I think - did you see her eyes up there?)

who are super full of energy!

Though there were a few moments of stillness.

Andi, I can’t wait for you to see the rest of your photos; you’ll just love them!

Kristin was concerned that she was soon going to have to wean her darling little boy for medical reasons, and wanted to be sure to capture those sweet moments before they were gone.

Every time I head home after a session, I am smiling and so grateful that I get to do what I do!

After this session, I had tears in my eyes from my joy and gratitude.

Unfortunately there is a “no nipple” policy at Greener Assets (and I wonder what happened to have *that* policy put in place), so none of my breastfeeding portraits got posted in the article, but all-in-all I had a lot of fun doing it and would love to make myself available for more.

And ‘cuz I absolutely NEED to post a photo, I’m going to post one from a recent breastfeeding portrait session.

Rebecca and T. were great to work with, and their house had great light, too. I couldn’t believe how amiable T. was when his mom woke him from his nap… my kids were so different. He was all smiles and playfulness.

And he was easily distractable! I think Rebecca worried about whether we even got one good photo, as T. stopped nursing every time the camera clicked, spending only about 10% of the time I was there actually nursing.

But we got lots of great photos, and one that I have fallen absolutely in love with! So much so that I’m going to share three versions of the one photo with you.

That look up at his mama just pulls at my heartstrings! THAT look is the one I think of when I remember each of my kids nursing, and that I wish I had my own photos of.

Ahhhhhh, I’m so glad that Rebecca and other mamas find it important to capture these small moments, and I’m so grateful that I get to do it for them.
