Birthday Boys
I’m slowly working on processing photos for three separate sessions.
I had to take a break from working on them because this past week was my oldest son’s and my youngest son’s birthdays.
About a month ago I was watching a show about photographers, and I got an idea from a famous portrait photographer (whose name I don’t remember): birthday portraits. He took portraits of each of his kids on their birthdays, capturing their growth, style and personality.
I liked the idea, so I’ve adopted it as my own.
Here’s my 9 year old’s portrait

A little story about that one, and why he looks so sad…
We’d just been arguing beforehand, and then rushing around and trying to get ready to leave to see Funny Dogs at the Lincoln Center (which I do not recommend, btw). He wasn’t going fast enough for me and I decided to skip the portrait, particularly because he’d been crying and was still red-faced.
However, he insisted on having the portrait done (stubborn boy), and I figured it’d remind me of the whole situation and what a bad mom I can be sometimes (like I need a reminder… I have such guilt already!).
So that’s why he looks a bit sad; it was hard for him to truly smile after all that.
My 3 year old’s session was a much happier occasion, having nowhere to go but downstairs to play a game.
I was teaching him to contort his fingers to show “3″, but he was unable to do it, so I taught him the way to show “3″ in sign language (much easier).
I just love how hard he’s working at it! First one focused on his face, the next on his hand

While we were making photos, his sister was slinking around in the hallway, which surprised her little brother

The focus isn’t great on that photo, but I adore the expression.
Next up - really - photos from one of my three most recent sessions, all of which have nursing photos.
Use the form on the contact page to schedule your session or to get more information.

The focus still seems good, the image came out really sharp (the last picture). But the facial expression is so cute =)
