A Glimpse Into My Life
I’ve been wanting to raise chickens for years; I really want to have the freshest, most delicious eggs possible.
Then maybe my oldest will actually eat them.
Alas, I’ve always lived in the middle of town, which is not zoned for chickens (not even just hens). According to the person I spoke to at the city offices, my “neighbors didn’t choose their houses so they could look into my yard and see chickens”.
Pbbbbbbt!
So I was SO GLAD when a friend of mine, who lives on the outskirts of town, offered to have a chicken co-op! I was on board before I was done reading her email!
The chicks arrived on Monday… they got mailed in a box - 27 of them! And we got to visit them yesterday. Here are a few of my favorite photos from our visit.
My oldest with “his” chick, an Orpington named Kuchipatchi (or Koochie, for short)

My daughter was a little anxious holding the chicks, so here her dad holds one for her

And I was a little anxious letting my almost-3 year old hold the chicks, so here his dad holds one for him ![]()

Okay, it’s back to editing photos of the adorable 6 week old; I had forgotten how smiley they can be even at that age.
